Throughout history women artists have grappled with exclusion in every imaginable form, and have faced limited options, public anger, professional scorn, condemnation and censorship. But these women artists prevailed and gave a voice to the voiceless through provocative subjects and political expressions. They have revised the historical canon of art and carved out a space for women in the modern art narrative. Join art therapist, Marney Schorr, as we review, discuss and create images inspired by women artists who bravely challenged assumptions and defied expectations in the art world. Art materials can be of your own choosing such as drawing materials, photography, collage images or found objects.

Optional resources:
(1)  Mancoff, Debra, Danger! Women Artists at Work
(2)
Lucinda Gossling, et Al, The Art of Feminism: Images that Shaped the Fight for Equality, 1857-2017.
