Six Sessions 

This course is offered online via the easy-to-use Zoom program.

Native American writers and educators from Northeast homelands will present various topics of current interest, such as language revitalization, traditional medicine, mythology, and cultural values and practices. Each session will feature one speaker or a panel of presenters, who will share their knowledge, experiences, and opinions; to be followed by Q&A. 

Speakers will include Bonney Hartley (Mohican, Tribal Historic Preservation Manager of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community), Jesse Bruchac (Abenaki author, musician, storyteller and educator in language revitalization), Cheryl Savageau (Abenaki poet and author of Home Country, Dirt Road Home, and Mother/Land), and more.

Michael Wilcox is curator of this course and will introduce the speakers. He has been an OLLI instructor for several years now, offering courses on autism, local history, and indigenous culture. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds an MA in Economics from Trinity College. As a disability rights advocate, he has served on many boards and commissions. He is currently the Town Moderator in Alford.
