Practical Self-Defense for Active Older Adults Empower yourself with the knowledge and skills to stay safe and confident in any situation. This course is specifically designed for active older adults and focuses on practical, easy-to-learn self-defense techniques tailored to your unique abilities and needs.

Throughout the sessions, you'll:

  • Develop situational awareness to recognize and avoid potential threats
  • Learn practical personal safety tips that can be applied in everyday life
  • Practice self-defense techniques adapted for safety, comfort, and effectiveness
  • To support your overall well-being, we will incorporate qigong exercises into our lessons. These gentle, flowing movements will enhance balance, focus, and vitality while complementing the physical and mental aspects of self-defense.

You will also have the opportunity to work with martial arts equipment and tools, adding hands-on practice to deepen your understanding and build confidence.  Join us to strengthen your body, sharpen your mind, and feel more secure in your daily life. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and have fun.

Laycolaion Freeman's impressive background and experience in martial arts and boxing make him a an accomplished and knowledgeable instructor. His achievements, such as competing in the Junior Olympics at a young age and winning the Massachusetts Golden Gloves at 15, demonstrate his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport. Earning a second-degree black belt in Kempo further showcases his commitment to martial arts.
