The course will be a survey of the entire Middle East and North Africa, from Morocco to Iran. In addition to looking at individual countries, we will look at history, culture, language, religions, oil and gas, and foreign relations. One day will be devoted to art, architecture, science and mathematics. Half of one class will be presented by the instructor’s Jordanian wife, a former journalist in Jordan, who was also living with her family in Kuwait when Saddam invaded and lived under Iraqi occupation for two months. Richard Eason is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer who served for 32 years, in nine different countries including five in the Middle East, two in Europe, and one in SE Asia and South America. He speaks Arabic, Spanish and some French. He holds Master’s degrees from George Washington University and US Naval War College. If this is of interest, check out W108 Survival Arabic for Tourism! |
