CLOSED - AT CAPACITY

In this class, we will focus on the drawing, and then painting, of your personally chosen objects. These might be books, a bowl of fruit, candles, flower vases, musical instruments, cooking utensils or baseballs, etc. We’ll begin by drawing basic shapes and making them 3-dimensional – then placing them in a setting. Next, we’ll transition to painting, while learning about light and shadow, texture and color mixing – as you create your own Still Life.  We’ll also see examples of the Still Life in Art History, (and learn a few tips about drawing them with children.) You’ll walk away with a nice canvas painting of your favorite items.

Supply List:

  • Photos of 3 (to 5)) objects that appeal to you – such as fruits, floral, glass or ceramic containers, wooden figures, table covers, etc. Photos should be at least 4”x6”.  (At least one photo should show the objects grouped together.)  If possible, bring 2 of the physical objects, as well.
