Six Sessions 



A continuation of last year’s course, in which each opera will be examined scene by scene through slideshows and musical excerpts; additionally, a brief biography of the composer and librettist, the performance history and challenges to the singers will be featured. A few of the lectures might coincide with the Metropolitan Opera’s “Live in HD” series.

Operas being featured: Aida (Verdi), Don Giovanni (Mozart), The Pearl Fishers (Bizet), Tosca (Puccini), Der Rosenkavalier (R. Strauss) and Porgy and Bess (Gershwin)

Christine Casey earned a Masters in Music Education at Northwestern University. She is a retired public high school vocal music teacher and worked as a professional singer and choir director.
