Five Sessions

This course is a preview/survey of the upcoming summer Tanglewood season (late June through Labor Day), focusing on the major solo, chamber music, vocal, choral/operatic and symphonic works scheduled for performance. We’ll discuss what to listen for, the backstory of these works, their place in the composer’s output and their influence on subsequent music into our own time. There is potential to preview upcoming programming at Tannery Pond in New Lebanon and at South Mountain Concerts in Pittsfield.

Dr. Stephen Dankner holds a DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) from The Juilliard School. He is a retired Music Professor at Williams College.
