Explore abstract art and the emergence of Abstract Expressionism in America between

1910 and the early years of World War II. The influence of European art and artists and

the unique features of American abstract art will be included.


Herbert Diamond has collected American modernist and early American abstract art

for more than 25 years; selections from his collection have been displayed at many

museums; OLLI lecturer on early American abstract art at BCC and Carnegie Mellon

University. Professor of Medicine, at University of Pittsburgh; and Chairman Emeritus,

Department of Medicine, Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
