OLLI at BCC Calendar of Events & Programs

OLLI at BCC offers a wide variety of programs and events that combine fascinating learning opportunities with the chance to meet interesting, active people.

The Distinguished Speaker Series brings noted scholars and experts to our members, their guests and the general community.  Lectures are offered most months and cover a wide variety of topics including history, current events, art, literature, politics and more.  Look for emails about these lectures and/or visit the OLLI website.

University Days are offered throughout the year, which present a series of symposiums featuring guest speakers, breakout panels and curated lunch conversations.  Themes have included the culture of aging, criminal just reform, sports & culture, women’s suffrage, and many more.  While these events are open to the public, OLLI members receive a steep discount on admission!

All of our events and programs are organized by our members. Interested in helping? Contact the OLLI Office at 413.236.2190 about joining an OLLI committee.

    Gore Vidal's The Best Man:

    An OLLI Playreading

    11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Berkshire Community College South County Campus

Join the OLLI Special Interest Group for a group reading of Gore Vidal's Tony-winning The Best Man!

At the 1960 Presidential primaries, Secretary of State William Russell lives by his principles but is haunted by recent health problems that threaten his career and vote-winning potential. Senator Joe Cantwell presents himself as the people's candidate, determined to win at all costs. Cantwell is faced with the revelation of sexual indiscretions, threatening both his marriage and his career. These two frontrunners for their party's nomination fight for the support of the outgoing president and resort to mudslinging in a very public contest.

Participation is free for all OLLI members. (If you are not yet a member, please join to take part in this program by calling 413.236.2190 or join online here. You must be an OLLI member to attend.)

Anthony.  Over lunch guest speakers, local college and high school students, and OLLI members will discuss this complex history. All of this, plus breakout panels, continental breakfast and a curated exhibition of local history in collaboration with the Berkshire Historical Society.
