The Covid-19 disease has changed our lives. Schools are closed; restaurants and bars are shuttered; sporting and cultural events have been canceled. We are separated from family and friends. We find ourselves sheltering at home facing an uncertain future. Writing can be cathartic, allowing us to express our feelings, hopes, and joys. During these historic times, we need to tell our stories—for ourselves, our families, and for future generations. This class will explore ways to create meaningful personal essays, focusing on the elements of good writing in a supportive and informal atmosphere.
